Deep Well

By: Kyle Elden

This is where we know ourselves
arms flung open
laid out
wide wild expanse of sky
body pressing against earth
the only sound for miles
is kick drum heartbeat
rising up
from God’s deep well
tiny currents hum,
waves undulate, unfold
break through
layers of the self
befallen on landscape of
soul, break open
brown egg shell cracking
opulence cascades
downward until the
golden center
settles
shines
